Animal Habitats!

4C have just been on a trip to Colchester Zoo. We had the most fantastic day. We went to Colchester as we are learning all about endangered animals and their habitats. Although the animals are kept in the zoo it is really nice how the zoo makes the environment that the animal is living in as close as possible to it's natural habitat. The animals were all very well kept and fed at regular times.


In literacy we have been writing debates for or against wild animals being kept in zoos using persuasive language.

 

 
 

Tate Modern Visit - Alberto Giacometti

Earlier this term, Year 4 went the Tate Modern gallery because it was Art Week at Fairlop.   We mainly went to see the work of  Alberto Giacometti’s sculptures and we got to sketch them.

In sience we have been investagating how seeds grow.We have done all sorts of things with them! we put some in:

• fridge
• windowseels
• in one side
• speded out
• in the freeser

and other places too!!!

The Egiptians

our new topic for this term is The Egyiptians.So far we have enjoyed our selves with drawing egyiptain profiles.First we started with drawing two eyes with sceting pencils and after we drew the hole profile.This afternoon we will be drawing our selves in egiptin profiles with we think would be even beter!!!

Easter at fairlop

It is nearly the end of the term and Easter is coming soon...we can't wait!!!!!!On Thursday,it is the last day of our tearm and we are looking foward to a lovely Easter assembly,Easter egg hunt and Easter parade.

Year three production The Litter Muncher

Next week on Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st year 3 will be doing a play on our topic the environment, it is called The Litter Muncher.We have worked very hard to get this performence right.The Litter Muncher will be Sukraj Oppal!!!!

Maths week

This week, it is Maths week. And we have been switching classes. First we stayed with Miss Thorpe on Monday, then we switched to Mr King's class on Tuesday. On Wednesday we went to Miss Borquez. We cant wait to find out what other lessons we will be doing with these teacher and we know they will be practical!!!

Recycling centre

Two weeks ago we went to a recycling centre.We played with a MURF where we had to sort out rubbish.Some things,including cardboard cannot be recycled in our Redbridge box.This has to go to a larger recycling centre.

We can recycle;

• plastic bottles



• paper



• food cans and drink cans
  

We learned about the three R's which are reduce,reuse and recycle.

Environmental morning

Today, a special visitor came in to our classroom to talk to us about recycling. We used different materials from old clothes, to make a collage of an animal in it's environment.

P.E.

In P.E. we have been doing a dance routine,circus skills,obstacle circuit,skipping and hula hoops we found it very exiting!!!!

Maths

3T have been looking at measure in maths and have been weighing objects as well as looking at the capacity of water. We had a lot of fun finding out how much water a container could hold and using scales to weigh objects like books, toilet roll and balls!

freeze frame

In class we have been looking at how it would feel to start a new school and have been making freeze frames, showing diffrent feelings.

3T's Mosaics

We have been making Roman mosaics and we have been looking at different patterns.

We used lot's of cut up pieces of coloured card and stuck them down to make a pattern. It was difficult at first, but then we got the hang of it!

Welcome to 2S's blogspot!

We have been back to school six weeks and have learnt so many interesting things. In history, we have been learning all about the Great Fire of London. In art we created a silhouette of the burning houses using sugar paper and water colour paints.

In Literacy we have been looking at poems and the rhyming words that are used within them. We also did a role play where we acted out some of the verses of the poem 'On the Payground'

In Science we have been learning about the properties of different materials.

An Interview with Mrs Walters

We have been learning about the difference between fiction and non-fiction writing. Non-fiction is writing about real things it is not a made up story or pretend. Made up stories are called fiction.
This week we have been looking at information books.
We interviewed Mrs Walters because we are making an information book all about her and the fun things she did when she was a child.
We asked Mrs Walters lots of questions about her childhood. We wanted to know about the toys she played with, the school she went to, the places she visited and her favourite things.
We recorded the interview and saved it as a podcast so you will be able to listen to it. It might be a little bit quiet but you should be able to hear our fantastic questions and Mrs Walters' interesting and sometimes very funny answers.
